MOTHER

October 23, 1918 - May 17, 2001

To Mary Louise (circa 1934)

On the little path to the spring,
I found the track of a Sunday shoe;
Where once was seen a tinier thing---
The barefoot track of you.

Along each dusty road we walk,
With never a worry or care;
And sometimes we just sit and talk,
And each other’s company share.

Now, I guess we’re growing up;
Paper dolls we have laid aside.
Soon we’ll drink from life’s full cup,
And enter channels wide.

With love,
From Mary Lucille
